Dimple Yadav is the wife of Samajwadi Party's youth icon Akhilesh Yadav. She is a housewife and not active in politics.

Dimple was born in 1978 to retired Indian Army Col SC Rawat at Pune. Her family is originally from Uttarakhand. Her parents now live in Kashipur (Udham Singh Nagar, Uttarakhand). She is the second of three daughters. Most of her family is from Army. Having grown up adjusting to new places has been an asset for her – Dimple is quick to adapt to new places, situations and environments. After completing her graduation in humanities from Lucknow University, 21-year-old Dimple fell in love with Akhilesh, then 25, who had just returned from Australia after studying marine engineering. Initially Mulayam Singh Yadav opposed this relation and he was not agree for the marriage. But later Dimple and Akhilesh were married in a grand ceremony attended by top leaders, film stars and celebrities. People like Amitabh Bachhan,Rajesh Khanna and then President KR Narayanan attended the marriage. Since then, Dimple — who encouraged and mentored her younger sister when she wanted to join the Army — has quietly donned the mantle of a housewife, adapting to a household where stalwarts of the socialist movement have dwelled, along with their children and grandchildren.

Dimple and Akhilesh have three children: Aditi, Arjun, and Tina. Arjun and Tina are twins. Dimple is a talented painter and voracious reader. She feels strongly about women’s empowerment and education, even though she has never voiced these sentiments on a party platform.

Dimple is not in active politics. Though she attends public meetings of Samajvadi Party during elections. She also does election campaigning for her party. She contested from Firozabad Lok Sabha seat(Bi Election -2009) against Mr Raj Babbar of congress but could not win. It is expected that Dimple will fight an another election from Kannauj Lok Sabha seat as her husband is leaving this seat after becoming the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.

Dimple could be the Samjwadi Party candidate for the Kannauj Lok Sabha seat once the seat is vacated by her husband and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.

After her husband Dimple too has made her assets public. The details have been posted on the official website of the state government. The declaration shows Dimple has taken a loan of Rs 22.24 lakh from her husband.
Dimple owns jewellery and gems accounting to Rs 59.76 lakh. She also owns properties in Lucknow valued at Rs 41.63 lakh and Rs 39.75 lakh. In her bank account, she has Rs 79.66 lakh in with another Rs 2 lakh as cash. Dimple also has investments amounting to Rs 15.56 lakh.
